Peter is a junior at the George Washington University studying Political Science and Economics. Raised in central Massachusetts, Peter came to Washington to pursue a career in public service and government relations. On campus he is an active member of the collegiate Model UN team, making this coming year his seventh competing in MUN. Having served as Executive Director for GWCIA XXIII, Peter has a passion for the conference, and is excited to meet everyone at GWCIA XXIV!
Mallory Thompson is a sophomore at the Elliott School of International Affairs, majoring in international affairs with a concentration in security policy and a minor is Chinese. She is from the good old town of Simsbury, Connecticut but absolutely loves calling Washington D.C. her second home. Last year was Mallory’s first year doing Model UN so she is super excited to be a part of the GWCIA experience. Other than Model UN, she also loves running, going to concerts, and quizzing her friends on Harry Potter trivia! She is super excited to meet everyone and to have a fantastic conference!
Chief of Staff
Elizabeth is a junior at the George Washington University studying Political Science. On campus, she is a member of the Moot Court team and serves as Vice President, and a justice on the University Hearing Board. She hopes to attend law school in the future to study Constitutional Law. Elizabeth is looking forward to an exciting GWCIA XXIV!
Director of Operations
Amalia Lohuis is the USG of International Bodies for GWCIA XXIV. Amalia is a sophomore in the Elliott School of International Affairs working towards a double major in International Affairs and Psychology. Amalia is also a member of the International Affairs Society’s Executive Board in the position of Community Outreach.
Amalia has competed in Model United Nations conferences on both high school and collegiate circuits. On campus, Amalia is also a member of Alpha Delta Pi and multiple women’s interests groups on campus. Originally from Los Angeles, Amalia is an avid climber. She also enjoys painting, philosophy, and cultivating a large and comprehensive list of dumpling recipes.
Under Secretary General of International Bodies
Cyrena Kokolis is the Under-Secretary General of Historical and Specialized Bodies for GWCIA XXIV. She is a sophomore in the Elliott School of International Affairs, majoring in International Affairs with a concentration in Security Policy and a minor in Geographic Information Systems.
In addition to competing on GW's Model United Nations team, Cyrena currently serves as Director of Academic Programming for the GW International Affairs Society and Director of Programming for this year’s Washington Area Model United Nations Conference. Her hobbies include singing (she is the music director of the GW Pitches, an all-female a cappella group), painting DC landmarks, and watching Netflix documentaries. She is originally from Voorhees, New Jersey. Cyrena is looking forward to an amazing GWCIA XIV!
Under Secretary General of Historic and Specialized Committees
Elizabeth Landrum is a Junior majoring in International Affairs with a concentration in Conflict Resolution and a minor in Peace Studies. She has almost a decade of MUN experience and has worked on 5 middle school conferences, serving as Director of Conference Relations at GWCIA XXIII. Elizabeth is looking forward to seeing the passion the delegates have this GWCIA!
Caleb Trantham is the Director of Finance for GWCIA XXIV. He is a sophomore in the Elliott School of International Affairs majoring in International Affairs and Economics. He previously served as a vice-chair of a historical body in GWCIA XXIII.
This year, Caleb is an Assistant Head Delegate of the GW Model United Nations team in addition to also serving on the Secretariat of WAMUNC. He is from Minnetonka, Minnesota, and if you ask nicely he'll be sure to do the "Fargo" accent for you. He looks forward to a making sure GWCIA XXIV is an engaging and fun experience for all delegates!
Director of Finance
Yasmine Sadoudi is a sophomore studying International Affairs and French at the Elliott School of International Affairs at GW. She hails from San Diego, CA and is having a great time adapting to the eclectic weather patterns D.C. has to offer its residents. In her spare time, she enjoys figure skating, reading, and planning her retirement on the Cote D'Azur following an exciting pursuit of world domination. She is honored to serve as the Director of Conference Relations this year and looks forward to seeing the delegates in action.
Director of Conference Relations
Emma Starink is the USG of historical bodies for GWCIA 2019. She is a sophomore in the Elliott school studying International Development with a minor in Biology. She started Model UN one year ago, as a Colonial Cadet on GW’s competitive travel team. She was a general staffer and vice chair at GWCIA 2018, as well as a crisis staffer at WAMUNC 2019. She is excited to work with the three regional committees and their delegates!
Under Secretary General of Regional Bodies
Peter Opitz will serve as the Under-Secretary General for Crisis Committees for GWCIA XXIV. Peter is a sophomore in the Elliott School of International Affairs hoping to double major in International Affairs and Political Communication and concentrate in Middle Eastern Studies. During GWCIA XXIII, Peter served as a staffer for the 2025 European Union.
In addition to GWCIA, Peter is a member of the George Washington University Model United Nations travel team and College Democrats. Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Peter enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking, and any other activity that takes place outside. During his free time you’ll usually find him wandering the streets of Washington, DC or exploring new museums with friends. Peter is very excited to see what GWCIA XXIV will bring!
